While I personally think that there should be as many things in place to make people think twice about driving unnecessarily, the whole idea of vehicle tracking is wrong. Not only would it be hugely expensive (OK, so new cars can be manufactured with satellite tracking capabilities, but who’s going to pay to fit devices to the millions of existing cars on the UK’s roads?
There’s no fairer way of taxing road use than on fuel costs, it’s a tried and tested method- why change it now?
This is bound to be another stupid government scheme that does nothing but waste time, energy and money: resources that would be better spent on more important things like reversing our trend of using up every resource the earth has.
